The Lion and the Mouse
Jack and Nora stared, amazed by Sparklebeam’s wings glowing so warmly. “Let’s start with one of my favorites,” Sparkitara (Sparklebeam) announces, its shimmering wings sparkling like tiny stars. “It’s called The Lion and the Mouse.”
With a wave of its glowing hand, Sparkitara (Sparklebeam) makes the cozy, Christmas-lit room disappear. Jack and Nora suddenly found themselves in a lush jungle. A fresh, clean scent hangs in the air, sunlight filtering down through the heavy canopy. Overhead, birds chirped merrily; below, a warm breeze stirred the leaves.
A magnificent lion, its golden mane shining like the sun, stood before them. The lion dozes serenely beneath a tree, its immense chest moving rhythmically with tranquil might. A little mouse darted nervously through the nearby grass, its heart pounding as it approached the sleeping giant.
A Surprising Act of Kindness
The tiny mouse darted across the lion’s enormous paw, its whiskers twitching, the sudden movement jolting the beast awake with a deafening roar. Jack and Nora watched, holding their breath, as the lion pinned the tiny mouse, its eyes blazing. But then, bam!
The lion, instead of striking, slowly and carefully raises its paw, the soft earth barely disturbed, and lets the mouse scurry away. The tiny mouse, trembling, whispers, “Phew! I hope I don’t taste crunchy!” Jack and Nora burst into giggles, their hearts light with relief.
“Why didn’t the lion hurt the mouse?” Nora asks, her voice curious.
Sparklebeam’s eyes twinkle. “Sometimes, true strength isn’t about showing power. It’s about choosing kindness,” it explains.
Nora nods thoughtfully. “So the lion didn’t need to be mean, even though it’s the strongest animal here.”
Sparkitara (Sparklebeam) smiles. “Exactly. Kindness shows a strength that power alone cannot.”
A Magical Pause
The jungle around them shimmers softly, the lesson of kindness lingering in the air. Jack and Nora can’t help but feel inspired by the lion’s surprising act of mercy.
